Why Choose Meditree

Meditree combines acupuncture, physiotherapy, Chinese herbal medicine and rehabilitation care under one East Auckland clinic. Your care plan is tailored to your symptoms, lifestyle and recovery goals, with clear guidance at every stage.

Fatigue is a symptom, not a diagnosis

Fatigue is more than ordinary tiredness and may not resolve after a few good nights of sleep. Possible contributors include sleep problems, stress, low mood, pain, medicines, anaemia, thyroid conditions, infection and other health issues.

If fatigue persists, worsens or limits daily life, a GP can assess whether examination, blood tests or other investigations are appropriate. Complementary care should not delay this step.

Choosing the right starting point

The first visit considers what matters most: energy, walking, balance, pain, sleep, returning to activity or confidence after illness or injury. We review the timeline, current care and any warning signs before recommending a service.

Physiotherapy may suit mobility, strength, balance or graded activity goals. Acupuncture may be considered for associated pain or tension. Chinese herbal medicine is considered only after a medicine and safety review.

Pacing and gradual progress

Doing too much on a better day can sometimes lead to a setback. A realistic plan may balance activity and rest, break large tasks into smaller steps and progress according to response.

For some conditions, especially after significant illness, a slower or specialist-guided approach may be needed. The aim is not to push through every symptom but to find a sustainable level and monitor change.

Coordinated, measurable care

Goals should relate to everyday function, such as walking safely, completing work tasks, sleeping more consistently or returning to a valued activity. Progress is reviewed openly. When another clinician is better placed to help, we recommend that next step.

Seek prompt medical care if you notice

  • Chest pain, severe shortness of breath, fainting or a sudden irregular heartbeat
  • New one-sided weakness, facial droop, speech difficulty, severe confusion or sudden loss of coordination
  • Unexplained weight loss, persistent fever, night sweats, black stools or unusual bleeding
  • Fatigue that is rapidly worsening, prevents safe daily activity or occurs with severe depression or thoughts of self-harm

If symptoms may be an emergency, call 111. For urgent advice in New Zealand, contact Healthline on 0800 611 116.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Meditree diagnose the cause of fatigue?

We can review your presentation and identify when medical assessment is needed, but persistent fatigue often requires GP-led investigation. We do not use acupuncture or herbal assessment to replace medical diagnosis.

Which service should I book?

Physiotherapy may be the best starting point for mobility, balance or graded activity goals. Acupuncture may suit selected pain or tension concerns. Contact us if you are unsure and we can help choose an appropriate appointment type.

Will I need blood tests?

Not everyone does, but a GP may recommend tests when fatigue is persistent, unexplained or accompanied by other symptoms. Clinic care should not delay necessary investigation.

Can fatigue be covered by ACC?

ACC generally relates to accepted accident injuries, not fatigue by itself. If reduced energy or function follows an injury, coverage depends on the accepted claim and ACC's decision.
